Having immigrated with her family from Argentina at a young age, Janet has always had an interest in issues surrounding immigration. Janet served an LDS mission that was primarily located on the border of Mexico in California. During this time, she met many individuals with immigration issues and longed for the knowledge to know if these individuals had a legal remedy at law. This sparked a desire to learn about the United States’ immigration laws and to develop the knowledge needed to help individuals in similar circumstances. She began working for different firms and learning all she could about immigration law. Janet completed her undergraduate education at Brigham Young University with a Spanish Major and Business Management Minor in 2011. She then received her Juris Doctorate degree at the J. Reuben Clark Law School (BYU) in 2015.

Throughout Law School Janet was the President of the Immigration Law Forum and completed a summer clerkship with the Executive Office for Immigration Review at Salt Lake City’s Immigration Court. She interned with numerous immigration attorneys, and was able to learn many aspects of immigration law from their various practices. Additionally, in law school Janet participated on the Journal of Public Law as a Lead Editor, was on the board for the SBA Graduate Student Society, and was the Law School representative of the Student Advisory Committee for the University. She was a member of BYU’s Moot Court Team and had the opportunity to complete a legal summer externship with Utah Supreme Court under Justice Thomas Lee. At Perretta Law Janet has been able to gain valuable experience in differing areas of immigration law including asylum, family-based adjustments, removal defense, and U-visa/VAWA cases.
